Configure Manually Settings

In most cases, the setup is unable to configure Gmail in outlook 2010, the above instructions don’t work, then we’ll need to manually configure the settings.

  • Once again open the “Add new account” dialog box and select “Manually configure server setting or additional server type“. Click Next

  • From the next dialog box, select the first option “Internet Email“, and click Next

  1. Your Name
  2. E-Mail Address
  3. Account Type: – Select IMAP from the list and ignore POP.
  4. Incoming mail server: Enter “imap.gmail.com” in lowercase
  5. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Enter “smtp.gmail.com” in lowercase
  6. Username: Automatic Appears
  7. Password: Enter your email account password.

Note: If you live outside of the US you might need to use imap.googlemail.com and smtp.googlemail.com

  • Click on the more setting button.
  • Internet E-mail Settings dialog box pops up, select the Outgoing Server tab, and check the box “My outgoing server (SMTP) that requires authentication”.

  • Next Click Advance Tab, and you must make some server port adjustments manually.
  1. Incoming server: 993
  2. Incoming server encrypted connection: SSL
  3. Outgoing server encrypted connection TLS
